The Time Ownered Executive

If you have too much scheduled, and are forced into too many commitments, remember that the person doing the forcing is you. You must learn to say no, and remove yourself from conversations that tend to direct you away from your original answer, no.

You can be very nice when you say no. You can even thank the person for inviting or asking you. My dear mother would say the following, "Nothing would please me more, sadly I must decline due to a previous commitment. You were so thoughtful to think of me."

When you say it like that, you can’t possibly make a requester feel bad. No one can force you, except you.

Your time is your own … so go ahead and own it.
